In Oregon, 1850, backwoods man Adam (Howard Keel) goes to town and finds a wife, Milly (Jane Powell). When they return to Adam’s home farm, Milly learns that he has six unruly brothers who, upon finding out Adam has a wife, decide that they want to be married too. When Adam reads about the Roman capture of the Sabine women, he has an inspired idea for the brothers to get their wives. Milly, however, does not share her new husbands enthusiasm.
