Splendours of the Polish Baroque
The 17th century was the golden age of Polish music: a time when sacred music, opera, music theory and instrument-making all flourished. The Italians Luca Marenzio, Asprilio Pacelli, Giovanni Francesco Anerio and Vincenzo Bertolusi all worked there.
Our programme of festive music on a grand scale for choir soloists, cornetts, sackbuts, serpent and other instruments will include the grandiose Triumphalis recurrit dies beati Martini for two choirs and nine independent instruments by Marcin Mielczewski (1590-1651) and Marenzio’s three-choir Super flumina Babylonis.
This event will be held at St Laurence's Church, Ludlow.
