The final concert of Arcadia 2018 – JS Bach a Celebration – this concert creates a rare chance to hear one of Bach’s most intriguing works, The Musical Offering, and one of his loveliest cantatas, ‘Ich Habe Genug’, which might be translated as, ‘I have enough’ or, ‘I am Content’.  The cantata’s three arias – opening with a memorable melting oboe obligato, will bring the talents of the highly gifted young baritone Thorvald Blough to the fore.  Having been given a full talk on Saturday 6th October, The Musical Offering will be performed in its entirety culminating with the famous Ricercar in six voices, perhaps the most rarified work of counterpoint ever penned.
