“Everyone Sang”

Roderick Williams brings the centenary of the Great War to a close with songs by Arthur Somervell, Edward Elgar, Ivor Gurney, George Butterworth, Gerald Finzi, Martin Shaw, John Ireland, Charles Ives, William Denis Browne, Ernest Farrar, Todd McNeal, Elaine Hugh-Jones, Anthony Payne, Ian Venables and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Roderick Williams needs no introduction to Ludlow audiences or, in fact, anywhere. He was the Royal Philharmonic Society’s ‘Singer of the Year’ in 2016. His repertoire is rich and varied and he makes a very welcome return to Ludlow with Susie Allan.

“Mr. Williams proved a natural and expressive communicator ... his rich,
burnished baritone lovely throughout the evening. The contrast when his
voice soared on a particular phrase … proved particularly compelling when
following moments of poignant intimacy.” Vivienne Schweitzer, The New York Times
