Legendary Jazz-Funksters Shakatak are coming to Ludlow! Still sounding as good today as they did as they did back in the 80's.
With over 30 years of playing together, Shakatak were at the forefront of the Brit-Funk movement in the 1980’s and enjoyed a string of hit singles including: Nightbirds, Easier Said Than Done, Down on the Street, Dark is the Night, Street-walkin, City Rhythm, Watching You, and Day by Day (With Al Jarreau).
The band comprises of four original members: Jill Saward - Lead vocals and percussion, Bill Sharpe – Keyboards, Roger Odell – Drums and George Anderson – Bass, accompanied by Alan Womald - Guitar and Jacqui Hicks – Backing vocals, saxophone, flute and percussion.
The set will include all the old favourites you will recall from their regular appearances on TOTP, intermixed with some live favourites and a few snippets from their most recent studio albums “Times and Places” and “On the Corner”.
“Their music still glows as brightly as that first hearing… Shakatak aren’t just a band, they were the soundtrack to our lives.” (RONNIE SCOTTS House magazine)
“A wild diversity seldom found anymore, tons of rhythmic and stylistic variety… Slamming” (JAZZIZ magazine USA)
This event will be held in the Main Auditorium. Tickets: £20
