In an exciting new venture, the Edge Chamber Choir is joined by a new classical choir, the Blue Hills Choir, in a concert to celebrate not only the 100th anniversary of both Parry and Debussy but also the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The concert will take place at St Laurence's church, Ludlow on Saturday 19 May starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 and can be obtained from the Ludlow Assembly Rooms box office or on the door.
The concert will start with the wonderful anthem I was Glad by Parry, which has been performed at coronations and royal weddings. Involving both choirs, this will raise the roof and set the tone for the rest of the concert. The two choirs will also sing Parry's Hear my Words, Ye People and Lord, Thou has been our Refuge by Vaughan Williams, both based on well-known hymn tunes.
Edge will perform Trois Chansons de Charles d'Orleans by Debussy and Parry's beautiful and very moving Songs of Farewell. They will also sing Ubi Caritas by Paul Mealor, which was composed for the wedding of William and Kate.
The concert will end with a rousing rendition of Parry's Jerusalem.
This event will be held at St Laurence's Church, Ludlow.
