The Bookshop (PG)

In a sleepy Norfolk seaside town, 1959, a free-spirited widow (Emily Mortimer) converts Old House into a bookshop, exposing the conservative locals to cutting-edge literature of the time such as Ray Bradbury’s ‘Fahrenheit 451’ and Nabokov’s ‘Lolita’. It soon becomes apparent that other people in the community have their own intentions for Old House and use their political and influential connections to get what they want.

Adapted from the 1978 novel by Penelope
Fitzgerald
and co-starring Bill Nighy, Patricia Clarkson and Frances Barber.
