A Regency Ball

Fri 21 Aug

Step back in time for an unforgettable evening of elegance, music, and dance beneath the soaring arches of St Laurence’s Church — often called the Cathedral of the Marches.

Guests will be welcomed to the newly opened Castle Lodge for a regency style drink on arrival before promenading to the church to enjoy a two- course supper served in the grand surrounds of this historic setting.

The evening’s entertainment will feature live music from The Warleggan Village Band, celebrated for their performances in the BBC’s acclaimed production of Poldark. Their lively tunes will set the perfect tone for traditional Regency dancing, guided by our expert caller, ensuring everyone can join in the fun — no experience required!

This promises to be a truly magical occasion — a celebration of grace, glamour, and good company in a magnificent, candlelit venue.

What a way to begin Ludlow History Festival. An evening not to be missed.

Only 100 tickets available. Book now to avoid disappointment.

Dress: Regency or formal evening attire encouraged.

What to expect:

A welcome drink will be served on arrival in Castle Lodge from a quarter to six on the Friday evening. We will then promenade through the town to St Laurence’s Church where a delicious first course of cold meats and salads will be served.

Dancing will begin sometime after 7 o’clock with a break about an hour and a half later for dessert and an opportunity to sit down and converse with friends you haven’t already danced with.

Dancing will recommence, with carriages at half past ten.

A dance workshop has been arranged for Saturday, 6th June for those with tickets. This will teach some of the dance steps and discuss the correct etiquette for the evening.
