Accessibility

We welcome audience members with additional needs.

Ludlow Assembly Rooms is arranged over 5 floors, The main auditorium is on level 3. Wheelchair access is via the main entrance on Caste Square and there is a lift available to reach all floors. Please let us know at the time of booking if you require a wheelchair space.

Service dogs are welcome.

We have a hearing loop in our auditorium and regularly show films with audio descriptive subtitles, which we call ‘closed captions’.

Most of the seats in our auditorium are 500mm wide, those either side of the central aisle are 525mm wide.

Closed Captions , Relaxed & Chilled screenings

Some of our films or streamed events will be screened with ‘closed captions‘ for those with hearing difficulties. These are labeled as captioned on the What’s On page.

Some films and shows are classed as ‘relaxed‘. A relaxed show or cinema screening is a specially adapted event designed to be more accessible for neurodiverse audiences and others who may find traditional cinema or theartre environments difficult. These events feature modified conditions, such as reduced volume, dimmed but not off lights, and no trailers or adverts, to create a more informal and comfortable atmosphere where patrons are welcome to make noise and move around freely.

We also occassionally have ‘chilled‘ performances, such as during panto season. These provide a more casual theatre-going experience, with rules on noise and movement relaxed. They are ideal for those who like a more informal atmosphere – for example, someone with dementia is free to ask a companion what is going on in the show if they get lost, or a parent with a babe-in-arms can come along without worrying, knowing they can leave the auditorium and come back as they need.

Shows listed below will have at least one captioned or relaxed screening. Check for the ‘closed captions’ or ‘relaxed’ label next to the dates when you click through to the show page.
