Ludlow Orchestra Spring Concert

Sat 16 May

Franz Schubert: Symphony No. 3 in D major

Gustav Mahler: Symphony No. 4 in G major
Leader: Claire Tocknell
Conductor: Jonathan Lyness
For the first time in its 55-year history, the Ludlow Orchestra performs a symphony by the mighty Gustav Mahler. His fourth symphony, one of his most popular works, is also his most tuneful and intimate, outwardly playful and packed with the folksong of his native Austria, with a serene slow movement and a soprano voice entering towards the end. For the perfect companion piece, the orchestra play Franz Schubert's wonderfully effervescent third symphony.
