Ludlow u3a meetings: Child Gambler Wins Life Back
A talk by Paul Isherwood

18 May 2026 @ 10:30
A 10 year old schoolboy was lured by the magnetic pull of a four year gambling addiction but thankfully had a light bulb moment to seek help. Now in his fifties, Paul Isherwood describes what it was like to be trapped into such a gambling addiction and how he managed, with help, to get rid of it – now having never gambled ever since. A story which is both a warning, but also provides an uplifting message of hope for others.
Monthly meetings take place on the last Monday of each month. There are no meetings in July, August and December, and the May meeting takes place a week earlier due to the bank holiday. They provide an opportunity for members of u3a in Ludlow to meet and chat, to talk to committee members and to hear a talk given by a guest speaker on a wide variety of subjects.
The programme for 2026 can be found on the u3a website here:
Meetings start with coffee and tea at 10:30 in Oscars, moving into the auditorium at 11:00 to hear a guest speaker.
With the range of knowledge and skill of our members we are keen to encourage speakers from within our membership. So if you have a subject you would happily talk to the group about, contact the Speakers Coordinator, meetings@u3ainludlow.org.uk
If you are not yet a member of the u3a, but are interested in attending one of the lectures, please come along and say hello.
