Ludlow u3a meetings: Miss Plymley Recollects
A talk by Alison Utting

26th January 2026 @ 10:30
Join Kathryn Plymley for tea in 1816 as she chats about her experiences. From her home in Rural Shropshire to Anglesea, Bath and London, Kathryn kept journals of her experiences.
Through her words witness the first steam engine, the excitement of Bath and the fight to abolish slavery as well as the delights of her family and village life. Meet the Ladies of Llangollen, William Wilberforce, Olaudah Equino, Thomas Telford and others.
Monthly meetings take place on the last Monday of each month. There are no meetings in July, August and December, and the May meeting takes place a week earlier due to the bank holiday. They provide an opportunity for members of u3a in Ludlow to meet and chat, to talk to committee members and to hear a talk given by a guest speaker on a wide variety of subjects.
The programme for 2026 can be found on the u3a website here:
Meetings start with coffee and tea at 10:30 in Oscars, moving into the auditorium at 11:00 to hear a guest speaker.
With the range of knowledge and skill of our members we are keen to encourage speakers from within our membership. So if you have a subject you would happily talk to the group about, contact the Speakers Coordinator, meetings@u3ainludlow.org.uk
If you are not yet a member of the u3a, but are interested in attending one of the lectures, please come along and say hello.
