Nina & Co Vintage Film Night: In the Mood for Love (2000) PG

During the first half of 2026, at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms, Nina & Co will once again present six classic films from around the world whose quality and content still inspire and speak to us today. Chosen primarily for the strength of their art – visual, musical and dramatic – the visual qualities are key, in costume. production design, cinematography and setting, from Britain, Europe, Australia and the Far East.

Set in 1960s Hong Kong, In the Mood for Love tells the story of neighbours Mr Chow and Mrs Chan, who think their spouses are having an affair. They form a close bond, which soon deepens into unspoken love, which they resist the temptation to fulfill. The film explores longing, restraint, and missed opportunities, creating a poignant and a powerful portrait of desire and heartbreak.
