Shropshire Historical Pageant and Comus Tercentenary 1934 costume exhibition
Way back in 1934 the people of Shropshire were united by the 300 year anniversary of Milton’s Comus, written for and performed in Ludlow Castle. In this exhibition you will see the costumes worn by performers in this historic theatrical performance which took place over 4 days in summer of 1934. The whole community supported the performance which also included a pageant through the ages where the local community paraded through the streets of Ludlow town in historic dress. See the costumes and ephemera which make up this unique collection from local history. Watch original footage of the parade through the streets of Ludlow.
