Building and Facilities Lead at Ludlow Assembly Rooms

Part-time – 16 hours per week Salary: c £28,000 pro rata

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Building and Facilities Lead to help ensure our venue is safe, welcoming, and operating at its best. This is a key role responsible for the day-to-day management of the building, supporting staff, artists, audiences, volunteers, and visitors.

Working closely with our technical and customer service teams, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining a high-quality environment while ensuring full compliance with health and safety standards.

This role is 16 hours per week, typically spread across 3–4 days, including some Saturdays. Due to the nature of the role, we are ideally seeking someone who lives locally to Ludlow and can respond flexibly to building needs when required.

Key Responsibilities

Building Safety & Compliance

· Ensure the building operates safely and in line with all relevant health and safety legislation

· Lead on building risk assessments, safety checks, and inspections

· Oversee fire safety procedures, including drills, equipment checks, and evacuation planning

· Act as the main point of contact for building-related incidents and emergencies

· Arrange and respond to accessibility audits, implementing improvements where needed

Maintenance & Facilities Management

· Coordinate both planned and reactive maintenance across the site

· Carry out regular inspections and ensure timely resolution of issues

· Take a hands-on role in maintaining building systems (heating, lighting, plumbing, electrical)

· Maintain accurate records of maintenance and compliance activity

· Support improvements to enhance safety, accessibility, and overall building performance

Cleaning & Housekeeping

· Line-manage the cleaning team to maintain high standards across all areas

· Develop and manage cleaning schedules aligned with operational and event needs

· Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are safe, stocked, and used effectively

· Support training and performance management of cleaning staff

· Assist with bar-related ordering and deliveries when required

Contractor & Supplier Management

· Liaise with contractors, service providers, and suppliers

· Ensure all external partners follow site procedures and health and safety requirements

· Monitor quality of work and ensure value for money

· Oversee stock levels of supplies, consumables, and stationery

Collaboration & Communication

· Work closely with technical, programming, customer service, and management teams

· Communicate building issues clearly and promptly

· Support event delivery by ensuring all spaces are safe, clean, and fit for purpose

Budget & Planning

· Support monitoring of maintenance and facilities budgets

· Assist with forward planning for building upkeep and improvements

· Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, and performance

About You

· Experience in facilities or building management

· Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance

· Practical, hands-on skills in maintenance (including plumbing and electrical systems)

· Experience managing contractors and coordinating maintenance work

· Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

· Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams

· Experience supervising staff or teams (desirable)
