A 1972 historical drama film based on the hagiography of Saint Francis of Assisi.
Francesco is asked to leave the war midway due to an illness. While recovering, he comes closer to God and decides to lead an ascetic life and leaves his house, refusing to join the family business.
During the first half of 2025, at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms, Nina & Co will present six classic films whose quality and content still inspire and speak to us today. Chosen primarily for the strength of their art – visual, musical and dramatic, the visual qualities are key, in costume. production design, cinematography and setting, from Britain, Europe and America.
