Art Society Teme Valley: The Bayeux Tapestry

These events provide welcoming places to meet like-minded people, and to hear expert lecturers share their specialist knowledge from across a broad array of subjects.

Visitors are very welcome, paying £8 on the door or free for members.

The Bayeux Tapestry, presented by Imogen Corrigan

The Bayeux Tapestry is not just a narrative of the most famous battle in English history but also of the build up to it. A moral story is depicted showing that good cannot come to those who break their word.It is a story of kings, chivalry and ambition.Intriguingly many crucial events are omitted and we can only speculate as to why.The tapestry itself is made only using 10 different colours on linen but remains as vibrant today as it must have been 900 years ago. This talk looks at many of the scenes in detail and explores what might be learned from this depiction of a turning point in our history.

Imogen Corrigan is an Anglo Saxon and Medieval historian and lectures widely on these subjects.
