KICKBACK: Manor Heights and Alvin and the Angry Barrels

Kickback nights at Oscars are all about sharing the original musical talent we have on our doorstep and having a damn good time doing it. Lockdown gave a stark insight into life without that fundamental, communal experience of enjoying live music. We promised ourselves we’d do something to inject some excitement into the nightlife of our town. Well, this is it – Kickback brings Friday nights designed to jump-start our weekends with a diverse range of artists who are itching to share the joy and energy of their music.

Please note – entry is via Oscars alleyway on Mill Street. Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door.
Manor Heights are a dynamic five-piece band hailing from the vibrant town of Telford. Manor Heights, 5 eclectic individuals each bringing their own fuel to throw on fire that makes their cross-genre sound ignite. The Telford quintet serve up a hard hitting cocktail of rock infused ska with hints of reggae and electronica. While the boundaries are pushed out of the way musically and topically, the ethos is to provoke a party and create an escape from the day to day.

With their debut single, “Payday,” released in late 2021, Manor Heights wasted no time in making their mark on the music scene. “Payday” is an irresistibly hooky ska anthem that captures the struggles of everyday life and the relentless pursuit of financial stability. The song resonates with listeners as it delves into the universal experience of living pay check to pay check, striving to keep one’s head above water.

The band are set to release their self-titled debut EP later this year which was recorded by renowned producer Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Kid Kapichi, The Sherlocks, The Twang, Nizlopi) at Magic Garden Studios Wolverhampton.

Alvin and the Angry Barrels.

Leominster’s finest rag tag punk rockers!

Unapologetically original, this four piece have their own brand of fast paced ska punk that may divide opinion but will always leave an impression. For better or worse! For fans of Rancid, NOFX, Jamie T and Sleaford Mods.
