KICKBACK with Cartoon Violence & CHOKED as support

***This gig has been postponed due to illness. Sorry for the inconvenience. All ticketholders will be contacted.

Kickback nights at Oscars are all about sharing the original musical talent we have on our doorstep and having a damn good time doing it. Lockdown gave a stark insight into life without that fundamental, communal experience of enjoying live music. We promised ourselves we’d do something to inject some excitement into the nightlife of our town. Well, this is it – Kickback brings Friday nights designed to jump-start our weekends with a diverse range of artists who are itching to share the joy and energy of their music.

Please note – entry is via Oscars alleyway on Mill Street. Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door.
CARTOON VIOLENCE
“Unbelievable! This band is great. Britpop Twotone?! The Beatles meets Madness?! I don’t know how to describe it but I love it” The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Cartoon Violence are an insanely catchy affair that mixes super bouncy 2 tone ska with distinctly British sounding pop & indie stylings. Their songs capture the classic Brit Pop storytelling vibe of the likes of The Kinks, Madness, Squeeze, The Hotknives & Parklife-era Blur, with each tune lyrically being like a mini kitchen sink drama in its own right! Endless soaring energy, great sing-a-long choruses & wonderful organ melodies are all hallmarks of the band’s unique ska sound.
After already completing a hugely successful European tour last year, Cartoon Violence are hitting the ground running in 2024 with the release of 3 new singles already, including the latest horns stomper ‘Imaginary Friend’ with Sash back on vocal duties with us”
Powys border punks, CHOKED, play original material – blending the genres of punk and post-punk rock with psych-funk.
Following the success of their ep, Bloodsport, they released their self-titled album in early 2023, which forges intricate guitar and bass rhythms with heavyweight environmental and socially conscious lyrics.
Last year saw Choked busy playing at Rebellion Fest, Going Feral Fest, and supporting 999 and XSLF, to name just a few gigs!
2024 is set to be even busier and just as much fun!
Choked’s self-titled album is available to download on all good streaming platforms via: http://ditto.fm/choked
