Ian Gledhill: Art and Illusion of Theatre Stage Design 

The story of stage scenery from Sophocles to Spiderman!  Western style theatre was invented by the Greeks from the 5th century BC onwards, and this talk illustrates the way in which theatre has developed over the last two and a half thousand years, and in particular how stage scenery design has advanced in that time.

 

Ian Gledhill has had a very varied career, from designing underground railways as an engineer for London Transport, to appearing in pantomime with Julian Clary. In between he has worked in travel and tourism, music publishing, television, and especially the theatre, where he has been an actor, director, set designer, stage manager and opera translator

 

You can attend TVAS lectures for just £8 (pay on the day) or become a member – annual membership is £50 or £95 per couple.
