The Trust Fall (15)

July 11 @ 19:30

The Trust Fall (15)

Despite being detained, silenced and hidden from public view, uncharged for five years in the maximum security Belmarsh Prison in East London, Julian Assange, the multi-award winning Australian journalist and Wikileaks publisher, became and remains today the loudest voice for speaking truth to power of our times. From 2010 when Wikileaks published in the mainstream media worldwide, its disclosures of the American state’s war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq, a firestorm of controversy was ignited. The publisher and journalist Julian Assange, thereby became the target for a relentless, vicious, ongoing pursuit by the United States, the most powerful state in the world.

Now, after a long, fiercely fought legal battle and a plea deal in his favour, Julian Assange has been released!!! He is alive and well in Australia reunited with his family. This film celebrates Julian Assange. State war criminals across the world have yet to face future Wikileaks revelations now that Julian Assange is free.

Kym Staton, poet, songwriter, and award-winning Australian documentary filmmaker. chronicles the fate of Julian Assange from childhood to solitary confinement in a 2m x 3m cell in Belmarsh prison.

There is a short introduction before the film showing.
